Open Text's Livelink Technology Chosen by Hewlett-Packard

HP To Implement Global Document Management Solution for UNIX Product Information Packaging and Distribution

Waterloo, ON – 1997-1-6 – Open Text Corporation and Hewlett-Packard Company have concluded a Corporate licensing agreement for worldwide acquisition of Livelink WorkSMART to implement a global virtual information repository for HP's internal use. The repository will allow users of technical documentation on HP's UNIX operating system (HP/UX) within Hewlett-Packard to access these documents for research, authoring, re-use and re-packaging uses.

"HP needed the ability to quickly convert multi-format documents, including SGML, into HTML documents and provide an integrated publishing solution," said Tom Jenkins, President and CEO, Open Text Corp. "We demonstrated that our Livelink WorkSMART technology could be integrated with HP's multi-format legacy documents and various technologies -including Netscape, Framemaker and Dynatext indices and viewers - into a single integrated work environment. The resulting publishing solution will also generate CD ROMs of the materials, to support HP's UNIX business worldwide."
