The installer tells me to download a Windows KB. What should I do?
- On Windows 7, 8, 8.1, Server 2008 and Server 2012, version 16.2 of Brava! desktop applications require Windows update KB2999226 to be installed. This update is not included when running general Windows updates on your system.
- The update is available at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2999226/update-for-universal-c-runtime-in-windows.
- Review the Prerequisites section on that page to ensure your system has the correct operating system update.
- When applying the pack, choose the appropriate package (x86 vs x64) for your operating system.
- For example: On a Windows 7 SP1 32-bit system, download the package associated with “All supported x86-based versions of Windows 7”. On a Windows 7 SP 1 64-bit system, download the package associated with “All supported x64-based versions of Windows 7”.
- Restart the system after applying the update.

How do I associate file formats?
To associate a file format to be loaded with our application through Internet Explorer using the current Brava! Desktop products:
- Select Options > File Types or Options > Set as Default Viewer
- Choose the tab for Internet Explorer.
- Select the formats that should be associated with the application when that file type is launched in an Internet Explorer session.
This format is not licensed. Please contact OpenText support.
-
I have installed Brava! Desktop, but cannot launch the application.
When using a standalone license of Brava! Desktop, an Internet connection is required the first time the application is run in order to register the installed copy of the software. After this initial (automatic) registration, an Internet connection is no longer required in order to use a stand alone license of the product.
Make sure Brava! Desktop was installed using a user that has Admin rights on the machine.
-
Why can't I edit another user's markups?
A markup can only be edited by the user that created the markup, although other users can open it for review and add markups, the new markups will be editable. Consolidating the markups will retain the original user.
-
When trying to load a file, I get an error saying the format is not licensed.
This error indicates that you are trying to open a file type that Brava! does not support or that is not enabled in your license. Check the format list on the website to ensure it is a supported format or contact Support or your sales representative for assistance with your license.

"License already registered"
If you get this message after changing computers or network cards please contact OpenText, to have the license reassigned to the new PC.
If this is happening on the same PC, which has had no hardware changes, please check that Brava! Desktop is serialized to the MAC ID (physical address of the network card). If the MAC ID is no longer present, you will receive this error. This error indicates that the license key that you are using has a different MAC ID than the computer. It could be that when the software was installed, it registered to the wireless card, docking station NIC, or any device that was connected that had a MAC ID. If one of these devices is turned off, the software will no longer function. You can either turn that device back on or, if the device is no longer present, then we will need to reassign the license to the onboard network card, which should always be on and present. -
Incorrect font density or style displayed in a DWG file.
Some DWG files are created using proprietary AutoCAD fonts. If those fonts are not present on the machine, Brava! Desktop will use substitutes. This may cause faded display of fonts, or non-visible font. To correct this, make sure the reference path to the necessary AutoCAD font is present in "Set reference file paths" under the Options menu.
-
PDF, DWG, TIF, CGM etc… files are not displayed correctly, come up blank, or produce an "invalid file" error.
This indicates that there may be a problem with a loader, and may require engineering time to fix. Please send a screenshot of the output or error, and the original file to support@opentext.com for testing.
-
DWG reference files are not loading
Make sure the reference files are in the same folder as the main file.
-
How do I disable/enable warning messages for missing fonts or XRef files
Click on the Options menu, then select CAD Display Settings. In the CAD Display Settings dialog, select Warn, Ignore, or Abort from the drop-down on the right side and click OK.
-
Why am I unable to create markups?
Please contact support@opentext.com.

When printing to a scale the printed output is wrong
Brava! reads the scale from the file. When making changes under the scale tab in the print dialog, make sure to account for the original scale the drawing is in.
-
When measuring a drawing, the values are incorrect or the measure line is grayed out
In some instances, when Brava! is installed under a different user account with admin rights and is then utilized by a limited user, this error will occur when launching Brava!. In this case, uninstall the application, elevate the user’s rights to admin, reinstall the application, and then demote the user’s rights.

I receive "Could not access license from IGCKey.lic"
This error occurs when the license key (IGCKey.lic) is corrupted, missing, or unreadable from the C:\Program Files\IGC\Brava! Desktop directory. Fixed by reinstall or dropping in the proper key.
